Effective date: October 17, 2026
This privacy policy explains how the mobile game Word Pond (the “app”) handles information. Word Pond is developed by Mr. Gorth (gorth.ca), referred to here as “we” or “us”.
In short: we don’t ask for your name, email or any account, and your game progress stays on your device. The app shows ads from Google AdMob, and Google collects some device information to show and measure those ads, as described below.
Information stored on your device
Word Pond saves the following on your phone so you can pick up where you left off:
- Your puzzle progress, coins, hints used and bonus words found
- Your daily streak and the date you last played
- Your settings, such as music, sound and vibration
This information stays on your device. We do not collect it, and it is not sent to us. You can erase it at any time with Settings > Reset progress in the app, or by uninstalling the app.
Advertising
Word Pond is free to play and is supported by ads served by Google AdMob, an advertising service provided by Google. To show ads, measure how they perform and prevent fraud, the Google Mobile Ads software in the app may collect and process:
- Your device’s advertising ID and other device identifiers
- Your IP address, which can be used to estimate your approximate location (such as country or city)
- Information about your device, such as model, operating system and language
- How you interact with ads and the app, such as ads viewed or tapped
- Diagnostic information, such as crash and performance data
This information is collected and handled by Google under its own policies. You can learn more at How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services and in the Google Privacy Policy.
Ads you choose to watch. Some ads are optional videos you can watch to earn coins. Others appear occasionally between puzzles.
Your choices about ads
- Consent (European Economic Area, UK and Switzerland). If you are in these regions, the app asks for your consent before personalized ads are shown. You can change your choice at any time in Settings > Privacy choices.
- United States. Where state privacy laws give you the right to opt out of targeted advertising, you can do so through the privacy message shown in the app, where provided, or with the device settings below.
- Your advertising ID. On Android you can reset or delete your advertising ID under Settings > Privacy > Ads (the exact menu varies by phone). If you delete it, you will still see ads, but they will be less personalized.
- Remove ads. Where offered, a purchase or subscription removes ads between puzzles.
Purchases
If you buy coins, ad removal or a subscription in the app, the payment is handled entirely by Google Play. We do not receive or store your payment card details. Google Play tells the app only what you purchased so it can be delivered. See the Google Privacy Policy for how Google handles payment information.
Information we do not collect
We do not ask for or collect your name, email address, phone number, contacts, photos or precise GPS location. We do not sell your personal information. The app has no chat or sharing features.
Children
Word Pond is intended for a general audience aged 13 and older and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has used the app and information was collected, contact us and we will help address it.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, including Canada, the European Economic Area, the UK and some US states, you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal information, or to object to or limit how it is used. Because we do not hold personal information about you, most requests are best handled directly with Google for advertising data, using the links above. You are welcome to contact us with any request or question, and we will respond within 30 days.
Security and retention
Game data stays on your device until you reset it or uninstall the app. Advertising data is retained by Google according to its policies. We take reasonable steps to keep the app secure, but no system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app changes, for example if new features are added. When we do, we will change the effective date at the top of this page. Significant changes will also be noted in the app’s store listing.
